Abstract: Objective To survey the levels of cadmium (Cd) in blood and urine among general population in Liaoning province and their distribution features. Methods A total of 2105 subjects from general population aged 6-60 years from eastern, central and western regions of Liaoning province were recruited from 2009 to 2010, by cluster random sampling method. The questionnaire survey was used to collect the information concerned living environment and health conditions, their blood and urine samples were collected for Cd detection using inductively coupled plasma mass pectrometry, and their distribution characteristics among the groups with different ages, genders, living areas and life habits were analyzed as well. Results It was showed that among the general population in Liaoning province, the geometric mean (GM) of blood Cd was 0.45μg/L; GM of blood Cd in male and female were 0.58 and 0.35μg/L(Z= - 6.32, P < 0.01), respectively GM from eastern, central and western regions of Liaoning province were 0.41, 0.31 and 0.77μg/L (χ2 = 160.63, P <0.01), respectively; GM of blood Cd in smokers and non-smokers were 3.7 and 0.31μg/L (Z= - 20.95, P<0.01), respectively; GM of blood Cd in drinkers and non-drinkers were 2.25 and 0.36μg/L(Z= - 13.52, P<0.01), respectively; meanwhile the GM of urine Cd of whole population was 0.44μg/L; GM of urine Cd in male and female groups were 0.46 and 0.43μg/L(Z = - 1.88, P>0.05), respectively; the values from eastern, central and western regions were 3.21, 2.22 and 4.74μg/L(χ2 = 297.71, P<0.01), respectively; the levels in smokers and non-smokers were 0.6 and 0.41μg/L(Z= - 5.82, P<0.01), respectively; and the levels in drinkers and non-drinkers were 0.64 and 0.41μg/L(Z= - 5.73, P<0.01), respectively. Conclusion The results suggested that there were some differences in blood or urine Cd levels among general population with different genders and living regions in Liaoning Province, which might be related to smoking and drinking habits. |
